Bus number 6 to Stanley Market from Exchange Square
The CitiBus/NWFB route number 6 from Exchange Square in Central Hong Kong is one of the best ways to reach Stanley Market. Together with the related routes 6A, 6X, 66 and 260 they provide a comfortable air-conditioned ride from the city centre to right outside the market area.
Each bus route goes past the market itself and are marked either Stanley Prison, Stanley Fort or Stanley Plaza. They all stop at the same bus stop outside the market except for the route 66 to Stanley Plaza, which is a weekday rush-hour only route and so unlikely to be used by tourists.
All the routes are long, even the "X" for EXpress route 6A is 30 stops from Central to the Stanley Market bus stop. In fact the route 260, despite not officially being an express, is faster as it doesn't stop so much in the city and there are only about 25 stops from the terminus to the market.
If you want to get there fast then do avoid the bus 6 or 66 as they go OVER the hill, while all the others goe via the Aberdeen tunnel which is a more direct route.
However if you want more interesting views of Hong Kong countryside then the 6 or 66 do give some very interesting glimpses of the wooded hillsides, views over the sea, and pass by some of the most prestigious residential tower blocks in the city.
Take care to get off the bus at the right stop, there are several called "Stanley" something. You need STANLEY VILLAGE.
After getting off the bus cross the road and walk down the slope, you are at the entrance of the market almost immediately.
